Surface anesthesia and lubrication during urethral and endoscopic examinations, pain relief effects for cystitis and urethritis
This medication provides surface anesthesia and lubrication for nasal or pharyngeal application during cystoscopy, catheter insertion, and endoscopic examinations. It is also helpful during surgeries or cystoscopy in the male and female urethra or during intubation. Additionally, it is effective in relieving pain caused by cystitis and urethritis. Thus, it is used for various endoscopic examinations, urethral-related surgeries, and pain relief for inflammatory diseases.
1. Urethral anesthesia 1) Surface anesthesia of male urethra: Inject 20 mL (400 mg of lidocaine hydrochloride), slowly insert 10 mL (200 mg of lidocaine hydrochloride) of this medication and apply a penile clamp at the corona for several minutes before injecting the remaining medication. In cases where anesthesia is especially critical, such as in the use of a smaller size or cystoscopy, larger amounts (for example, 30-40 mL of this medication) may be administered in 3-4 divided doses.
This medication is an amide local anesthetic and should not be used in individuals allergic to this medication or similar drugs. Care should be taken when used on areas with wounds or infections, in patients with epilepsy, cardiac conduction abnormalities, poor liver function, or serious shock conditions. During use, symptoms of shock such as blood pressure drop, facial pallor, irregular pulse, or respiratory depression may appear, requiring careful observation. If these symptoms occur, use should be immediately discontinued, and appropriate treatment should be obtained. Central nervous system effects may lead to symptoms such as trembling or convulsions, as well as drowsiness, anxiety, dizziness, nausea, or vomiting. If these symptoms occur, use should be stopped immediately, and appropriate measures should be taken. Cardiac function may be suppressed, leading to serious problems such as hypotension, bradycardia, or cardiac arrest; caution is advised. Allergic reactions such as hives or swelling may occur on the skin, so any unusual symptoms should be promptly reported. When using this medication, it is advisable to always be prepared for emergency procedures, and it is important to closely observe the patient's condition and use only the minimal necessary amount to reduce side effects. When applied inside the airway, absorption is rapid, so only a small amount should be used, and care must be taken to prevent numbness of the oral mucosa or tongue, which could cause injury in the mouth. In the case of endotracheal intubation, care should be taken to prevent this medication from entering the tube, and excessive administration into the rectum should be avoided. Extra caution is required, particularly in children, as there is a risk of central nervous system side effects. Caution is needed when using this medication in conjunction with antiarrhythmic agents, as side effects may be exacerbated. For pregnant women or women who may become pregnant, safety has not been established. Therefore, it should only be used if the benefits of the treatment outweigh the risks. Additionally, this medication may be transmitted in small amounts through breast milk, but it is known to pose no significant risk to the infant when used at therapeutic doses.
