This injection is used for the prevention and treatment of vitamin B1 deficiency. It helps supply vitamin B1 when it is not sufficiently ingested, for example, in cases of wasting diseases or hyperthyroidism, during pregnancy and lactation, and during intense physical labor. It is also effective in the treatment of Wernicke's encephalopathy and beriberi heart disease. It is used when vitamin B1 deficiency or metabolic disorders affect various symptoms such as neuralgia, myalgia, peripheral neuritis, myocardial metabolic disorders, constipation, and postoperative intestinal paralysis. However, prolonged use for more than one month without purpose is not recommended. This medication is used for the treatment of various diseases associated with vitamin B1 deficiency.

Dosage and Administration

Adult dosage

As fursultiamine, the usual adult dosage is 5 to 100 mg administered subcutaneously, intramuscularly, or intravenously per day. The dosage may be adjusted appropriately according to symptoms.

Precautions

This drug is in ampoule form and when cutting the glass container, glass fragments may mix in. Therefore, great care should be taken to cut it to prevent glass fragments from mixing in. Extra caution is required when administering it to children or the elderly. Patients who have had allergic reactions to this medicine or any of its ingredients should not use it. Patients who have previously had drug allergic reactions should exercise more caution when using this medicine. Rarely, serious allergic reactions may occur, leading to shock, so if symptoms such as drop in blood pressure, chest pain, or shortness of breath occur during use, discontinue use immediately and receive appropriate treatment. Additionally, allergic symptoms such as skin rash can occur rarely, so if these symptoms develop, usage should be ceased. Gastrointestinal symptoms may include nausea, vomiting, oral inflammation, and sometimes diarrhea. Other than that, headaches or frequent urination may occasionally occur. When this medicine is administered intravenously, pain may occur in the blood vessel, so it is advisable to inject slowly as much as possible. When using the injection solution, it is safe not to reuse any remaining amount to prevent bacterial contamination. When cutting the ampoule, do so with a one-point cut, applying force downwards on the opposite side of the marked part at the top of the ampoule. Additionally, before cutting the ampoule, it should be thoroughly cleaned with an ethanol swab to prevent foreign substances from mixing in. This medicine should be stored in a safe place away from children, and it must not be transferred to other containers, as this could lead to accidents or a decrease in the quality of the medication.
