This medication is used to diagnose diabetes and related conditions by measuring glucose tolerance.

How to take

Adult dose

Adults (excluding pregnant women): Administer 75 grams of glucose. Pregnant women: Administer 100 grams of glucose.

Child dose

Pediatric: Administer 1.75 grams of glucose per kg of body weight, and should not exceed 75 grams of glucose.

Precautions

This medication should not be used in patients with glucose-related disorders. Specifically, it should not be administered to patients who are unable to properly absorb glucose or galactose. Caution is required in patients with diabetes insipidus, and any patient with a history of allergy or hypersensitivity to specific coloring agents, such as Yellow No. 5 and Yellow No. 4, should use this medication carefully. During use, symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, abdominal distension, diarrhea, and abdominal pain may occur, and CNS symptoms like headache may sometimes arise. This medication must be taken orally as directed by a physician, and intake should be suspended the day before the test, avoiding overeating, excessive drinking, and alcohol. Nothing should be consumed starting 12 hours before the test, and fasting should be maintained on the morning of the test. During the test, no beverages other than water should be consumed. A comfortable posture should be maintained during the test, and vigorous exercise should be avoided, along with smoking. The patient's state should be observed carefully, considering various conditions that could affect the test results. Additionally, care must be taken when taken with laxatives, as this may interfere with the intestinal absorption of this medication. In older individuals, physical functions may be diminished, so the dosage of this medication should be reduced or used cautiously. Finally, this medication should be stored in a safe place out of reach of children.
