This medication helps improve blood sugar control in patients with type 2 diabetes when combined with dietary and exercise regimens. It can be used alone or in combination with other diabetes treatments. This therapy helps effectively manage blood sugar levels.

How to take

Adult dose

In monotherapy or combination therapy, administer 100 mg once a day, with a maximum daily dose of 100 mg. In moderate renal impairment (glomerular filtration rate [eGFR] 30-45 mL/min/1.73 m2), administer 50 mg once a day. In severe renal impairment (glomerular filtration rate [eGFR] 15-30 mL/min/1.73 m2) or end-stage renal disease (glomerular filtration rate [eGFR] < 15 mL/min/1.73 m2), instructions continue.

Precautions

Severe allergic reactions may occur after administration of this medication, so if symptoms such as skin rash or difficulty breathing occur, discontinue use immediately and consult a doctor. During treatment with this medication, symptoms of acute pancreatitis may occur, so if severe abdominal pain or vomiting occurs, seek medical attention immediately. This medication should not be used in patients with type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis, and should also not be administered to individuals who are allergic to this medication or any of its ingredients. Patients with deteriorated kidney function may need dosage adjustments, so if there is kidney disease, be sure to consult a doctor. Symptoms of hypoglycemia may occur during treatment with this medication, and the risk of hypoglycemia may increase, especially when used in conjunction with insulin or sulfonylureas, therefore blood sugar should be monitored periodically and symptoms should be closely observed. This medication may cause side effects such as headache, upper respiratory infection, nasopharyngitis, diarrhea, nausea, etc. If symptoms are severe, consult a doctor. If severe joint pain or the appearance of blisters on the skin occurs, discontinue use immediately and seek medical advice from a specialist. Pregnant or nursing women are advised to avoid using this medication, and safety and efficacy have not been established in children under 18 years of age. Elderly patients may have decreased kidney function, so kidney function should be tested regularly before and during treatment.

  • Hives, severe swelling (angioedema), chest tightness (anaphylaxis), difficulty breathing, cold sweats, paleness, severe allergic reactions.
  • Severe rash with high fever, blisters, peeling skin, pain in mucous membranes of mouth/eyes (Stevens-Johnson syndrome, exfoliative dermatitis).
  • Acute pancreatitis (including fatal/non-fatal hemorrhagic or necrotizing pancreatitis).
  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, asthma attacks, respiratory abnormalities accompanied by cough and fever.
