Precautions
This medication may contain glass fragments when opening ampules; therefore, it must be handled very carefully, especially in children and the elderly. Individuals who are allergic to this medication or patients with aldosteronism, muscle lesions, or hypokalemia should not take this medication as it may worsen their symptoms. Elderly patients and those sensitive to sodium metabisulfite should use this medication with caution, as sodium metabisulfite may cause allergic reactions or asthma attacks. Severe allergic reactions such as shock may occur when using this medication, so if symptoms arise, administration should be stopped immediately and appropriate treatment should be sought. Long-term use or increasing the dosage may lead to side effects such as low blood potassium levels and high blood pressure; therefore, regular blood tests should be performed to monitor condition. Patients receiving this medication should maintain a stable condition and be carefully monitored for side effects. Using this medication in conjunction with other medications containing licorice may exacerbate side effects, so combination should be avoided or consulted with a professional. Taking specific diuretics may further lower blood potassium levels, causing symptoms such as weakness or muscle loss; thus, blood tests and monitoring are necessary. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should use this medication only after consulting a doctor, as its safety is not clearly established. Elderly patients are at a higher risk of side effects such as hypokalemia, so their condition must be carefully observed before and after administration. When administering via intravenous injection, it is advisable to inject slowly to reduce vascular irritation. This medication should be stored out of reach of children in a safe place and kept sealed in its original container to maintain quality. Lastly, there have been rare reports of serious muscle-related side effects when using this medication or medications containing licorice, thus caution is required.
