Precautions

This medication should not be used in patients with a history of allergies or hypersensitivity to quinolone antibiotics. Rarely, symptoms similar to shock such as nausea, cold extremities, and difficulty in breathing may occur, so if any unusual symptoms arise, usage should be immediately discontinued and appropriate treatment should be sought. Also, hypersensitivity reactions such as cardiovascular collapse, angioedema, rash, itching, and difficulty in breathing may occur, so usage should be stopped if these symptoms appear. Temporary burning or irritation, discomfort in the eye may occur, and in severe cases, keratitis, conjunctivitis, periorbital swelling, and vision impairment may develop, thus usage should be stopped immediately if these symptoms occur. Hearing impairment or symptoms of irritation may also rarely occur, so caution is required. Long-term use of this medication may lead to the development of resistant bacteria and an increased risk of overgrowth of fungi and other organisms, so it should only be used for the necessary minimum duration. Efficacy against Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) infections has not been established, so if MRSA infection is confirmed and symptoms do not improve, it should be switched to another stronger antibiotic. Especially in elderly patients or those using corticosteroids concomitantly, the risk of tendonitis or rupture may increase, hence if any pain or inflammation is noted, usage should be stopped immediately. Use during pregnancy or in women of childbearing potential is not safe, and it should only be used when the benefits outweigh the risks; nursing mothers should discontinue breastfeeding or stop the medication. Safety and efficacy have not been established for infants under 1 year of age, so it is advisable not to use it. This medication is an eye drop intended for ophthalmic use only; thus, care should be taken to avoid direct contact of the container tip with the eye, and co-use should be avoided to prevent contamination. Store it out of reach of children, avoiding direct sunlight and keeping it in a cool place, and do not transfer it to another container.
