This medication is used to clean and disinfect lacerations, burns, and other wounds to prevent infection. It also helps treat and suppress bacterial infections in ulcerated and purulent areas. It disinfects infected skin areas to support recovery to a healthy state. It is used for disinfecting surgical sites and sites where injections or catheters are inserted to reduce infection risk. This drug effectively eliminates bacteria in various wounds and infected areas, thus aiding in wound care. Therefore, it is used for sterilizing and disinfecting wounds or infected areas.

How to use

Adult use

Apply an appropriate amount to the affected area several times a day.

Precautions

This drug should not be used in specific patients. For example, individuals allergic to this drug or its ingredients, those with thyroid dysfunction, individuals with poor kidney function, newborns and infants under 6 months old, patients with herpetic dermatitis, and those undergoing radioactive iodine treatment should not use this drug. Additionally, elderly patients with severe ailments or thyroid disease history and patients with previous kidney function issues should use this drug cautiously. When using this drug, it may rarely cause allergic reactions, skin irritations, rashes, or itching, so if any of these symptoms occur severely, usage should be discontinued. Care must be taken especially during the treatment of extensive burns as electrolyte imbalances or impaired kidney function may occur. This drug can affect thyroid function, so careful monitoring of thyroid status is advised with prolonged or large-scale use. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should avoid long-term or extensive use of this drug, and it is recommended to check the thyroid function of newborns or infants. If sudden itching, swelling, difficulty breathing, or other severe allergic symptoms occur during use, immediate medical attention should be sought. This drug should be kept out of the eyes; if it enters the eyes, it must be rinsed immediately with clean water. Also, this drug may interact with other medications, hence avoiding concomitant use with lithium treatments or certain disinfectants is advisable. This drug should be stored away from direct sunlight, and caution is needed when stored in metal containers as corrosion may occur. Lastly, overdose or prolonged use of this drug may lead to thyroid dysfunction or other side effects; thus, if abnormal symptoms occur, immediate consultation with a healthcare provider is necessary.

Hives, difficulty breathing, swelling, sweating, pallor, rash, blisters, skin peeling, pain in oral/eye mucosa, respiratory distress due to pulmonary edema, difficulty breathing, jaundice, extreme lethargy, kidney failure, high blood pressure, renal bleeding, anuria, sudden and severe headache, seizures, impaired consciousness, visual disturbances, paralysis, anaphylaxis, chest tightness

Mild side effects

Pain, itching, irritation, rash, redness, dermatitis, burning sensation, skin ulceration, contact dermatitis, skin discoloration, inhibition of wound healing, electrolyte and serum osmolality disturbances, metabolic acidosis, increased serum thyroid-stimulating hormone levels, decreased T4 and T3 levels, metallic taste, increased salivation, burning sensation and pain in the throat and mouth, eye irritation, skin reactions, stomach upset, diarrhea, iodine toxicity

Drug interactions

Do not use this drug with hydrogen peroxide. Consult a doctor or pharmacist if used alongside lithium preparations, chlorhexidine, silver sulfadiazine, alkaline compounds, mercury-containing preparations, or enzymatic wound treatment products.

Storage

This drug should be stored in a container that blocks light at room temperature between 1 degree and 30 degrees Celsius. It is also important to store it in a sealed container to prevent air ingress.
