Precautions

This drug primarily contains Donepezil Hydrochloride and is used mainly for the alleviation of symptoms of Alzheimer's disease. First, this medication should not be used in certain patients. For example, individuals allergic to this medication or any of its components, pregnant women or women who may become pregnant, and patients with genetic problems that prevent lactose digestion should not take this medication. Also, those with heart disease or a history of gastric ulcers, asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, patients with extrapyramidal disorders such as Parkinson's disease, and those with allergies to specific dyes contained in this drug should use it with special caution. This drug may affect the heart, creating risks of bradycardia, arrhythmia, or heart block. Therefore, patients with heart conditions should be administered this drug under strict medical supervision, and an electrocardiogram may be performed if necessary. It can also affect the digestive system, increasing gastric acid secretion or promoting gastrointestinal motility, which may worsen digestive ulcers. Thus, patients with a history of gastrointestinal conditions should closely monitor for symptoms while taking this drug. Furthermore, this drug can affect bladder function and may cause urinary disturbances, so caution is necessary for patients with urinary tract diseases. It can impact the central nervous system, potentially worsening movement disorders such as Parkinson's disease or triggering seizures, so patients with these symptoms should use it cautiously. Patients with respiratory diseases, especially those with asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, should be cautious as bronchoconstriction and increased mucus secretion may worsen symptoms. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should avoid this medication unless absolutely necessary since its safety has not been established. If breastfeeding, it is recommended to stop nursing during the treatment period. This medication can interact with various drugs, so current medications should be disclosed to the doctor or pharmacist. Care is necessary, especially when used with heart-related medications, antidepressants, antibiotics, and anticonvulsants. Caution should be exercised when driving or operating machinery while taking this drug. Symptoms like dizziness, drowsiness, muscle cramps can occur and may impact safety. In the case of an overdose, symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, severe muscle weakness, and respiratory distress may occur, so immediate medical attention is required if these symptoms develop. Lastly, this medication should be kept out of the reach of children, and transferring it to another container should be avoided to maintain quality.
