Who receives it
Adults
Adult administration
1. Cataract surgery and intraocular lens implantation: Slowly inject the required amount of this medication into the anterior chamber of the eye through a needle or cannula before or after lens removal. Injections should be performed before cataract extraction and insertion of the intraocular lens to optimize the endothelial protective effect as an adjunctive treatment, so it should be injected before both intracapsular and extracapsular cataract surgeries. This medication can also be used for coating surgical instruments and the inserted intraocular lens. 2. Corneal transplantation.

Efficacy & effects

Auxiliary effect in ophthalmic surgeries (cataract, corneal transplant, glaucoma)

View approved original text

This medication is used to assist in various ophthalmic surgical procedures such as cataract lens implantation, corneal transplant surgery, and glaucoma surgery. It acts as an adjunctive treatment to enhance therapeutic effects during surgery and aid recovery, helping to maintain ocular health after surgery.

How it is given

Adult administration

1. Cataract surgery and intraocular lens implantation: Slowly inject the required amount of this medication into the anterior chamber of the eye through a needle or cannula before or after lens removal. Injections should be performed before cataract extraction and insertion of the intraocular lens to optimize the endothelial protective effect as an adjunctive treatment, so it should be injected before both intracapsular and extracapsular cataract surgeries. This medication can also be used for coating surgical instruments and the inserted intraocular lens. 2. Corneal transplantation.

Precautions

This drug is an injection made from sodium hyaluronate, primarily used after ophthalmic surgeries. Patients who have had allergies to any of the components or proteins included in this drug should not use it. During use, intraocular pressure may increase, and rare side effects such as inflammation, corneal edema, opacification, bleeding, pain, itching, and decreased vision may occur. Additionally, there is a possibility of opacification on the surface of the intraocular lens, so caution is advised. This medication contains phosphate, which can lead to a rare side effect known as corneal calcification in patients with severe corneal damage. Immediately after surgery, intraocular pressure should be monitored carefully, and appropriate treatment should be received if the pressure rises. It is recommended to remove this medication as much as possible through washing or suction after surgery. Before performing ultrasonic emulsification suction, a space filled with perfusion fluid should be created between the lens and this medication. Solutions containing quaternary ammonium compounds such as benzalkonium chloride should not be used to wash surgical instruments. This medication should not be used together with other drugs such as hyaluronidase. It is for ophthalmic use only and must never be injected into a blood vessel. Before use, the refrigerated medication should be allowed to sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes to match body temperature. Caution should be taken as precipitates may form when mixed with quaternary ammonium compounds such as benzalkonium chloride and chlorhexidine. Once opened, it should be used only once, and any remaining medication should be discarded along with the container. When using this drug in conjunction with air, care should be taken to ensure that air does not enter beneath the iris. The injection should be administered slowly and carefully, as excessive injection may increase intraocular pressure. This medication should be stored out of reach of children and kept sealed in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to prevent misuse and maintain quality.
