How to take

Adult dose

The recommended dose is 10mg once daily, taken immediately after the evening meal. Do not chew; swallow the tablet whole at once. When administered as adjunctive therapy to catheterization for acute urinary retention related to benign prostatic hyperplasia, the recommended dose is 10mg once daily, taken after a meal starting on the first day of catheterization. Precautions

This medication contains alfuzosin hydrochloride and should not be administered to specific patients. Individuals with allergies to alfuzosin or other components of this medication, those with orthostatic hypotension, severely impaired liver function, significantly reduced kidney function, intestinal obstruction, patients taking other alpha-blockers, and those taking strong CYP3A4 inhibitors should not use this medication. This medication may cause orthostatic hypotension in some patients, especially those taking antihypertensive medication, resulting in dizziness, fatigue, and sweating within the first few hours. In this case, the patient should lie down until the symptoms completely resolve, and elderly patients should be particularly cautious. If there is a history of heart disease or when used in conjunction with antihypertensive medication, there is a risk of a sudden drop in blood pressure, thus consultation with a doctor is necessary. This medication should not be prescribed alone to patients with coronary artery disease, and if symptoms of angina appear or worsen, it should be discontinued immediately. Additionally, patients with a prolonged QT interval related to heartbeats or those taking medications that can lengthen the QT interval should use this medication with caution. This medication may cause side effects such as dizziness, headache, weakness, fatigue, indigestion, constipation, skin rash, erectile dysfunction, and others. Although rare, severe adverse reactions like serious heart problems or thrombocytopenia may occur, requiring immediate consultation with a physician if any unusual symptoms arise. Patients planning to undergo cataract surgery must inform their ophthalmologist about the use of this medication, as it is an alpha1 blocker and may increase the risk of intraoperative floppy iris syndrome, potentially altering the surgical approach. This medication must be swallowed whole; breaking, chewing, or crushing the tablet may alter its efficacy and increase the risk of side effects. Patients with a history of taking other alpha-blockers or severe hypotension should exercise special caution when using this medication. Furthermore, it may cause a rare side effect known as priapism, so if this occurs, immediate notification to medical personnel is necessary. This medication poses a risk of reduced blood pressure when taken in conjunction with certain antihypertensive agents or strong CYP3A4 inhibitors, thus discussing concurrent medications with a physician is crucial. The safety of this medication during pregnancy or breastfeeding in women is not established, and it has no indications or proven effectiveness in children. Dizziness or weakness may occur early in treatment, so caution is advised when driving or operating machinery. In case of overdose, immediate hospitalization is required, and the patient should remain lying down while receiving treatment for hypotension. This medication is not removed by dialysis, hence professional treatment is necessary. Lastly, this medication should be stored out of reach of children, and transferring it to another container may impair its quality, so caution is advised.
