How to take

Adult dose

The recommended dose is 10mg once daily, taken immediately after the evening meal. Do not chew; swallow the tablet whole. When administered as adjunctive therapy to catheterization for acute urinary retention associated with benign prostatic hyperplasia, the recommended dose is 10mg once daily, taken after a meal starting on the first day of catheterization. Precautions

This medication belongs to the class of alpha-blockers and should not be administered to certain patients. For example, patients with allergies to this medication or its components, patients with orthostatic hypotension, patients with severely impaired liver function, patients with very poor kidney function, patients with bowel obstruction, patients already taking other alpha-blockers, and patients taking potent CYP3A4 inhibitors should not be administered this medication. Some patients, particularly those treated for hypertension, may experience orthostatic hypotension within a few hours following initial dosing. Symptoms such as dizziness, fatigue, and sweating may occur, so it is advisable to lie down and rest when such symptoms arise. Older patients are more susceptible to these side effects, thus caution is necessary. Patients exhibiting symptoms of orthostatic hypotension or those taking antihypertensive agents or nitrate preparations should be administered this medication cautiously. It should not be used alone in patients with coronary artery disease, and if symptoms of angina worsen, administration should be halted immediately. Additionally, caution should be exercised in patients with congenital or acquired QT interval prolongation or those taking medications that prolong the QT interval. During treatment with this medication, side effects such as dizziness, headache, nausea, abdominal pain, constipation, fatigue, and weakness may commonly occur. Rarely, serious side effects such as worsening of heart disease, skin rashes, and thrombocytopenia may occur, and if any abnormal symptoms appear, it is essential to consult a physician immediately. This medication can cause a rare complication known as 'intraoperative floppy iris syndrome' in patients scheduled for cataract surgery; therefore, it is crucial to inform the attending ophthalmologist about taking this medication before the surgery. When swallowing the tablets, do not crush or chew them, but swallow them whole; crushing or making them into powder can cause rapid drug action and may lead to excessive drops in blood pressure. This medication may cause a rare side effect known as priapism, which, if untreated, can lead to permanent erectile dysfunction, so it is imperative to inform medical personnel immediately if symptoms occur. When taken with certain antihypertensive agents or potent CYP3A4 inhibitors, the hypotensive effect may be excessively increased or drug concentration may rise, so patients must inform their physician or pharmacist about any currently taken medications. The safety of this medication during pregnancy or breastfeeding has not been established, and it is not intended for use in pediatric patients. Dizziness or weakness may occur early in treatment with this medication, so caution should be exercised while driving or operating hazardous machinery. In case of overdose, hospitalization and appropriate treatment are necessary; this medication is difficult to remove by blood dialysis. Finally, this medication should be kept out of reach of children and should not be transferred to another container.
