Precautions

This drug may put stress on the heart for some patients, potentially causing or worsening congestive heart failure. Therefore, if severe weight gain, shortness of breath, or swelling occurs during treatment, medical attention should be sought immediately. Patients with heart failure or symptoms of heart failure should not use this medication and must be monitored closely for heart failure symptoms while taking this drug. Additionally, this drug can cause fluid retention as a side effect, which may lead to edema, so consultation with a physician is necessary if swelling symptoms appear. When used in combination with insulin or other blood glucose lowering agents for diabetes treatment, the risk of hypoglycemia may increase, therefore patients should be well aware of hypoglycemia symptoms and management methods. This drug may affect liver function, so regular liver function tests should be conducted before and during treatment, and any signs of liver dysfunction should be reported to a physician immediately. Patients with a history of bladder cancer or current bladder cancer should not use this medication, and if symptoms like blood in urine or urination difficulties appear, medical attention should be sought immediately. Premenopausal women should be aware that this drug may induce ovulation, creating a possibility of pregnancy; therefore, appropriate contraceptive methods should be used. Elderly patients, as well as those with impaired kidney or liver function, should use this drug cautiously, with regular health status checks required. During treatment, patients should be closely monitored for weight gain, edema, and heart failure symptoms, and if any abnormalities occur, they should consult healthcare professionals immediately.
