This medication is used for patients with hypertension whose blood pressure is not sufficiently controlled with monotherapy.

How to take

Adult dose

The standard dosage for adults is 1 tablet once daily of Losartan Potassium 50 mg/Hydrochlorothiazide 12.5 mg. Doses exceeding Losartan Potassium 100 mg/Hydrochlorothiazide 25 mg are not preferred. In cases where blood pressure is not controlled by monotherapy, treatment is initiated with 50 mg/12.5 mg once daily, and if blood pressure is still not controlled after 3 weeks, the maximum can be increased to 100 mg/25 mg once daily.

Child dose

There is no experience with the use of this medication in children and adolescents (under 18 years), so it should not be administered.

Precautions

This medication may cause serious harm to the fetus during pregnancy, and it should not be taken by women who are pregnant or may become pregnant. Patients with allergic reactions to this medication, certain kidney dysfunctions, liver dysfunctions, electrolyte imbalances, and certain genetic diseases should also not take this medication. Patients with excessively low blood pressure or abnormalities in renal blood vessels, liver disease patients, patients with diabetes, etc., should take this medication with caution, and the risk of skin cancer may increase, so skin condition should be regularly monitored. Hives, severe swelling (edema), angioedema (swelling of lips and eyelids and facial rash), difficulty breathing, angioedema (may cause airway obstruction due to laryngeal/pharyngeal swelling, swelling of face/lips/pharynx/tongue), skin peeling, hemolysis, chest pain, angina, arrhythmias (atrial fibrillation, sinus bradycardia, tachycardia, ventricular tachycardia, ventricular fibrillation), cerebrovascular accidents, hypotension, myocardial infarction, secondary atrioventricular block, renal failure, jaundice, hepatitis, acute hypersensitivity reactions.

Mild side effects

Abdominal pain, swelling/edema, palpitations, lower back pain, dizziness, cough, sinusitis, upper respiratory tract infection, weakness/fatigue, diarrhea, nausea, headache, bronchitis, pharyngitis, chest pain, facial swelling, fever, orthostatic hypotension, fainting, angina, arrhythmias (atrial fibrillation, sinus bradycardia, tachycardia, ventricular tachycardia, ventricular fibrillation), cerebrovascular accidents, hypotension, myocardial infarction, secondary atrioventricular block, loss of appetite, constipation, dental pain, dry mouth, indigestion, flatulence, gastritis, vomiting.

Not everyone experiences these, and they can vary from person to person.

Storage

This medication is sensitive to light and should be stored in a tightly sealed container to block light. It is important to maintain storage temperatures between 1 degree and 30 degrees Celsius at room temperature.
