Precautions
This medication is used for the treatment of diabetes and contains two components. The first component helps lower blood sugar, while the second component enhances the effectiveness of insulin and aids in blood sugar control. Caution is necessary as there is a rare but very serious complication known as lactic acidosis that may occur with this medication. Lactic acidosis is a condition in which acid builds up excessively in the body, and symptoms may include vomiting, abdominal pain, muscle pain, difficulty breathing, and fatigue. If these symptoms occur, inform a doctor immediately. Patients with impaired kidney function or liver damage should not use this medication, especially in cases of moderate to severe kidney function decline, as administration is prohibited. Additionally, it is also safer not to use this medication in cases of acute infections, before or after surgery, in patients with severe trauma, or in those with very poor nutritional status. This medication may cause hypoglycemia, so caution should be taken in case of insufficient food intake, excessive exercise, or alcohol consumption. Symptoms of hypoglycemia may include cold sweat, dizziness, headache, palpitations, etc., and if these symptoms occur, sugar intake should be taken immediately, followed by consulting a doctor. Pregnant women or women who may become pregnant should not take this medication, and those who are breastfeeding should consult a healthcare professional. This medication can interact with other drugs, so if you are currently taking medications, be sure to inform your doctor or pharmacist. Extra caution should be taken when combined with drugs that affect kidney function or blood sugar. During treatment, regular monitoring of blood sugar, kidney function, liver function, and blood tests should be conducted, and any unusual symptoms should be reported to medical staff immediately. While taking this medication, it is important to avoid excessive alcohol consumption and to maintain a regular diet and exercise regimen. Caution is necessary when driving or operating machinery due to the risk of accidents from hypoglycemia. Finally, this medication has not been established as safe for children, and in elderly patients, careful consideration must be given to kidney function before administration.
