This medication is used for painful muscle spasms associated with musculoskeletal disorders, such as cervical radiculopathy, adhesive capsulitis, and low back pain. It is also effective for various conditions of spastic paralysis due to neurological disorders, such as cerebrovascular disorders, spastic spinal paralysis, cervical spondylosis, postoperative sequelae, post-traumatic sequelae, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, and cerebral palsy. Therefore, this medication helps alleviate muscle pain and stiffness, promoting recovery of function and improving the quality of life for patients.

How to take

Adult dose

Administer 50 mg of Eperisone Hydrochloride orally three times a day after meals. Adjust dosage according to age and symptoms.

Precautions

This medication should not be used in certain patients. Firstly, individuals who have an allergic reaction to this medication should not take it. Additionally, patients with severe myasthenia gravis who have very weak muscles may be at risk if they take this medication. This medication contains lactose; therefore, patients with genetic issues relating to lactose breakdown or absorption should avoid taking it. There are patients who need to be cautious when using this medication. Patients with a history of allergic reactions to drugs or those with poor liver function should be careful when taking this medication, as there may be a risk of liver function deterioration. Serious side effects may rarely occur while taking this medication, so close monitoring is required. For example, shock symptoms may appear, and if symptoms occur, the medication should be stopped immediately, and appropriate treatment should be sought. Blood-related issues such as liver function abnormalities, kidney function abnormalities, and anemia may also occur rarely, so conditions should be carefully monitored. Symptoms such as skin rash, itching, insomnia, drowsiness, headache, nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain may also appear. In severe cases, dangerous skin reactions, such as Stevens-Johnson syndrome, may develop, so if symptoms such as fever, blisters, and eye redness appear, the medication should be discontinued immediately. During the use of this medication, feelings of weakness, dizziness, or drowsiness may occur; therefore, it is advisable to reduce the dosage or stop taking it if such symptoms arise. Additionally, due to potential drowsiness or decreased attention, driving or operating hazardous machinery should be avoided while taking this medication. Taking this medication with other muscle relaxants may exacerbate side effects; therefore, it is important to consult a physician or pharmacist before taking it with other medications. For women who are pregnant or may become pregnant, the safety of this medication is not established, so it should only be taken when the benefits of treatment outweigh the risks. If breastfeeding, it is advisable to avoid this medication if possible, and if it must be taken, it is preferable to discontinue breastfeeding.
