Acute non-infectious conjunctivitis (swelling, vascular congestion) and allergic keratitis, non-infectious inflammation of the anterior segment (anterior uveitis, etc.), post-operative inflammation relief.
This medication is used for acute non-infectious conjunctivitis with severe swelling and vascular congestion and for allergic keratitis. It is also effective for non-infectious inflammation of the anterior segment such as anterior uveitis, episcleritis, and scleritis. Furthermore, it helps relieve inflammation occurring after strabismus surgery, cataract surgery, and glaucoma surgery. It is used to treat inflammation from various ophthalmic conditions.
Instill 1 drop into the conjunctival sac 2–3 times per day. For adults, during the first 24-48 hours, instill 1 drop every hour.
This medication should not be used by individuals allergic to specific ingredients. Women who are pregnant or nursing should also avoid using this medication. It is best not to use it if there is an eye infection, especially when suffering from keratitis or conjunctivitis. Patients with glaucoma or dry eye disease should avoid this medication. It is contraindicated in cases of corneal damage or viral, bacterial, or fungal infections. Children under the age of 2 should not use this medication. Patients with circulatory problems or heart disease, hypertension should use this medication with caution. Patients with metabolic disorders such as hyperthyroidism or diabetes should also be cautious. There may be potential interactions with certain antidepressants or antihypertensive medications, so caution is advised. Individuals with a history of cataracts or herpes simplex infections should also be careful. Caution is necessary for those with dry nose disease and children. Using this medication may temporarily cause eye irritation symptoms. Long-term use can lead to increased eye pressure, so regular check-ups are necessary. Rarely, allergic reactions such as conjunctival hyperemia or dermatitis may occur with prolonged use. As it contains corticosteroid ingredients, prolonged use may lead to cataracts or corneal damage. There is a risk of fungal infections in the eye tissue. Wound healing may be delayed, and, though rarely, exophthalmos or nutritional corneal damage may occur. Some patients may experience systemic side effects such as headaches or insomnia. Avoid wearing soft contact lenses during treatment, and do not use it for prolonged periods. If used for more than 2-3 days, regular checks of eye pressure and secondary infection should be performed. Persistent corneal ulcers may require consideration of fungal infection possibility. This medication can mask or worsen eye infections, so caution is advised. Additionally, vision may temporarily blur after administration, hence driving or operating hazardous machinery should be avoided. Children or patients on specific medications are at a higher risk of systemic adverse reactions, thus caution is required. This medication should not be taken with drugs that may elevate blood pressure. Particularly, when used in conjunction with CYP3A4 inhibitors, the risk of side effects may increase, so it must be used under a doctor's judgment. The safety of this medication in children has not been established, so use with caution. In case of overdose, serious symptoms may appear, requiring immediate consultation with a healthcare provider. Prior to use, the solution should be shaken well and it is intended for topical use only. Avoid direct contact of the container tip with the eye and avoid shared use to prevent contamination. Store in an airtight container to prevent exposure to air and humidity, and keep at room temperature between 15 degrees and 25 degrees Celsius.
