Effect of inhibiting surgical and traumatic bleeding
View approved original textHide original text
This medication is used effectively to stop bleeding caused by various surgical procedures or trauma. As an absorbable hemostatic agent, it safely decomposes naturally in the body without leaving residues. When applied directly to the bleeding site, it promotes hemostasis and aids recovery after surgery. It is widely used in various surgical situations, facilitating the patient's recovery process. This medication helps to quickly treat bleeding caused by surgery and trauma.
How to use
Adult use
Cut to the desired size and use in its dry state or moisten it with saline solution or appropriately concentrated thrombin solution. When using in dry state, gently press the product against the bleeding site for 10-15 seconds after evenly rolling a piece on the bleeding area. When used moistened with saline or thrombin solution, soak the product in the solution, remove it, remove any bubbles, soak it again, and then gently press it against the bleeding site for 10-15 seconds.
Precautions
This medication should not be used for suturing skin incision sites as it may hinder the healing of skin edges. Use within blood vessels may be dangerous as there is a risk of embolism. Patients who have had an allergy to porcine collagen should not use this medication. It should not be used on bleeding sites or areas filled with blood or other fluids. Using it in infected areas may worsen the infection and may require reoperation or drainage. In cases of severe arterial bleeding, the pressure may prevent this medication from adhering properly, increasing the risk of continued bleeding. It should not be used to stop postpartum bleeding or excessive menstrual bleeding. This medication should not be used as primary treatment in patients with coagulation disorders. It should be used cautiously around the optic nerve or optic chiasm, and must be removed after hemostasis to prevent visual disturbances. Caution should also be taken when using this medication in areas with small holes in the bone tissue or surrounding the spinal cord, and it must be removed after hemostasis. Using this medication may lead to fever unrelated to infection. It carries a risk of causing infections or forming abscesses and may promote bacterial proliferation, so caution is advised. If this medication accumulates in the brain, it may lead to granulomas that can compress the brain and spinal cord. Using this medication in severe tendon repair may lead to excessive fibrosis and delayed tendon fixation. Foreign body reactions may cause capsule formation or hematoma. When used in spinal surgeries, neurological abnormalities have been reported, and it must be removed after hemostasis. In nasal surgeries, toxic shock syndrome may occur; caution is necessary. Using it in tympanoplasty may lead to fever, incomplete absorption, and hearing loss. This medication may expand due to absorbed liquids, which can compress surrounding tissues and cause nerve damage or tissue necrosis, so excessive use should be avoided. It cannot be replaced in cases requiring meticulous surgical treatment or sutures. Once opened, it must be used immediately, and any remaining product should be discarded to prevent contamination. Only the minimum amount needed for hemostasis should be used, and the remaining drug should be carefully removed after hemostasis. Using it in conjunction with autologous blood recovery reinfusion devices is prohibited. When used with adhesives for attaching artificial materials to bone surfaces, it may reduce the strength of the adhesive. Using it with antibiotic solutions or powders is not recommended. This medication does not have a sterilizing effect; therefore, other appropriate treatments should be considered when there is a high risk of infection. Since it is supplied in a sterile state, it should not be reheated for re-sterilization as this may alter the absorption time of the drug. Ethylene oxide gas used in sterilization may remain in the drug and potentially cause irritation or burns to tissues. Its safety and efficacy have not been established for pregnant women or children, so caution is required.
