Precautions

This medication should not be used in patients with hypersensitivity to quinolone antibiotics. Rarely, shock symptoms such as nausea, cold limbs, and difficulty breathing may occur; if these symptoms arise, administration should be discontinued immediately and appropriate treatment should be received. Hypersensitivity reactions can lead to cardiovascular collapse, loss of consciousness, vascular swelling, respiratory distress, skin rashes, itching, and so such symptoms warrant discontinuation of use. Temporary burning sensation, irritation, discomfort, redness, itching, conjunctivitis, keratitis and other symptoms may occur in the eyes; in severe cases, vision abnormalities or serious skin reactions such as Stevens-Johnson syndrome may occur, requiring immediate discontinuation. Occasionally, hearing impairment or irritation symptoms may arise. Prolonged use of this medication may lead to resistant bacteria and worsen fungal infections, so it should only be used for the minimum required duration. Since this medication has not been proven effective against methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), if MRSA infection is confirmed and symptoms do not improve, it should be replaced with a stronger antibacterial agent. Especially in older adults or when used in combination with steroids, the risk of tendon inflammation or rupture increases, so if pain or inflammation occurs, administration should be stopped immediately. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should only use it when the benefits of treatment outweigh the risks, and breastfeeding should be suspended or the medication discontinued during lactation. The safety and efficacy in infants under 1 year of age have not been established, so it is advisable not to use it. This medication should only be used for eye drops, and care should be taken to avoid direct contact of the bottle tip with the eye. To prevent contamination, it should not be shared, and it should be stored in a cool place out of the reach of children, avoiding direct sunlight. Additionally, to maintain quality, it should not be transferred to another container.
