Precautions

This medication should be stopped immediately if signs of thromboembolic disease occur or are suspected. Special caution should be taken with early symptoms related to thrombotic diseases such as thrombophlebitis, cerebrovascular disease, and pulmonary embolism. This medication should not be used in certain patients. For example, in those who have an allergy to this medication, severe liver dysfunction, liver tumors or cholestatic jaundice, unexplained genital bleeding, suspected breast cancer or malignancies of the reproductive organs, and those with a history of thrombotic disease. Side effects such as drowsiness or dizziness may occur when using this medication, particularly in individuals with low estrogen levels. If these symptoms occur, reducing the dose or adjusting the timing of administration may help. Additionally, this medication may cause changes in menstrual cycles or breakthrough bleeding, so regular monitoring is necessary. Before using this medication, a Pap test and breast and pelvic examinations should be performed, and re-examination every six months is recommended for long-term use. In cases of irregular vaginal bleeding, the cause must be accurately determined before use, and this medication should not be used if there is unexplained bleeding. Fluid retention may occur, so patients with seizures, migraines, asthma, or heart or kidney diseases should be monitored closely. Patients with a history of depression should be monitored carefully, as depressive symptoms may worsen, and the medication should be stopped if symptoms become severe. Diabetic patients should be carefully managed as this medication can affect blood sugar control. This medication should not be used concurrently with other intravaginal medications; if it must be combined, a minimum interval of six hours should be maintained. Because it may affect the liver, any symptoms of upper abdominal pain, liver enlargement, or bleeding should be reported to a doctor immediately. If symptoms such as visual disturbances, thrombosis, or severe headaches occur, usage of this medication should be stopped immediately and medical advice should be sought. This medication does not have contraceptive effects, so it should not be used for contraception purposes. Using this medication with other substances that induce liver enzymes may reduce its efficacy, and some antibiotics may also reduce its effectiveness. This medication may increase the effects of certain drugs, so be sure to inform the medical personnel of any concurrent medications. Smoking or alcohol abuse may affect the bioavailability of this medication, so caution is advised. Studies regarding the use of this medication during pregnancy have not reported associations with fetal malformations; however, it should be used with caution in early pregnancy and is generally not recommended during breastfeeding. In cases of overdose, symptoms may occur, and if present, use should be stopped immediately and appropriate treatment should be sought.
