Essential hypertension is a condition characterized by elevated blood pressure, which increases the risk of cardiovascular diseases. In some patients, blood pressure may be difficult to control with a single medication; in such cases, combination therapy is used to manage blood pressure more effectively. Especially in patients with moderate to severe hypertension, initial treatment with combination therapy is necessary to rapidly and accurately lower blood pressure. This approach helps to stabilize blood pressure control, prevent complications, and improve overall health. Therefore, appropriate treatment methods are selected based on the patient's condition for blood pressure management.

Precautions

This medication can cause serious harm to the fetus or newborn if taken during pregnancy, particularly in the second and third trimesters, so it should be discontinued immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant, nursing mothers, patients with anuria, and patients with severe renal impairment should not take this medication. Patients allergic to any components of this medication or those with certain genetic disorders should also avoid taking it. Patients with hypotension, abnormal kidney function, liver impairment, certain heart conditions, acute closed-angle glaucoma, or a history of skin cancer should use this medication with caution. Side effects such as dizziness, fatigue, nausea, vomiting, and abnormal urination may occur; patients should consult a doctor if symptoms are severe. There may be an increased risk of skin cancer, so it is advisable to limit sun exposure and inform a doctor immediately if any skin abnormalities occur. Caution is required when driving or operating machinery, as dizziness or fatigue may occur. While this medication lowers blood pressure, hypotension might occur in cases of sodium or fluid depletion, necessitating a review of the patient's condition before administration. Patients with poor kidney function should have serum potassium and creatinine levels monitored periodically, and patients with liver impairment should use this medication cautiously. This medication may affect blood glucose and lipid levels, so diabetic patients may need to adjust their treatment doses accordingly. Electrolyte imbalances can occur; if symptoms such as dry mouth, thirst, or muscle cramps appear, patients should consult their doctor immediately. Acute closed-angle glaucoma symptoms may arise; if eye pain or vision changes occur, stop this medication and visit a hospital. There may be interactions with other drugs, so especially if taking lithium, potassium supplements, diuretics, antidiabetic drugs, or NSAIDs, patients must consult a doctor or pharmacist. It is generally safer not to take this medication during breastfeeding, and it is not recommended for children and adolescents. Overdosage may lead to hypotension, electrolyte imbalances, dehydration, and other risks, so adherence to the prescribed doses is crucial; if any abnormal symptoms appear, seek medical attention immediately. Keep out of reach of children and store in the original container to maintain drug quality.
