This medication is used for the treatment of myocardial ischemia due to hypertension and stable or variant angina. Additionally, it helps reduce the risk of hospitalization for angina in patients who have recently been confirmed to have coronary artery disease through angiography, provided they do not have heart failure and have a left ventricular ejection fraction of 40% or more. It also reduces the risk associated with coronary vascular revascularization procedures. This medication effectively improves the treatment and management of cardiovascular diseases.

Precautions

This medication should not be used in certain patients. For example, patients with allergies to this drug or other drugs in the same class, those who are breastfeeding, those with severe liver dysfunction, patients with severe aortic stenosis, and those in shock should avoid taking this medication. Additionally, patients with severe hypotension, those with kidney disease requiring dialysis, elderly individuals, pregnant women, or women who could become pregnant should use this medication cautiously. While taking this medication, various side effects may occur. The most common side effects include flushing, fatigue, swelling, palpitations, dizziness, headache, drowsiness, abdominal pain, and nausea. Rarer side effects may include dangerously low blood pressure, neurological symptoms, urination problems, liver function abnormalities, skin rashes, and allergic reactions. If any of these symptoms occur, consult a doctor immediately. This medication should be used cautiously in patients with heart failure, and dose adjustments may be necessary for patients with poor liver function. The effects of this medication appear slowly, so it is not suitable for the treatment of acute angina. This medication can interact with other drugs, so it is essential to inform your doctor or pharmacist of any other medications being taken. Particularly, taking it with grapefruit juice may enhance the blood pressure-lowering effect excessively, so it is advisable to avoid this combination. The safety of this medication has not been established in pregnant or breastfeeding women, so its use should be avoided where possible and used cautiously only when no alternatives are available. Children aged 6 years and older can use it, but the safety and effectiveness for children under 6 years have not been established. In case of overdose, dangerously low blood pressure and irregular heartbeats may occur, requiring immediate emergency treatment. This medication is not removed by dialysis, so specialized treatment is needed for overdoses. Finally, during the use of this medication, it is known that driving or operating machinery is not significantly affected.
