Precautions

This drug is used for the treatment of diabetes and has the effect of improving insulin resistance. Patients with heart disease such as congestive heart failure should not take this medication as it may exacerbate their condition. During treatment, patients should be closely monitored for sudden weight gain, shortness of breath, and swelling in the legs, and if these symptoms occur, they should consult a physician immediately. This medication can cause fluid retention, leading to edema, so patients with edema or at risk for heart disease should be especially cautious. Patients with a history of bladder cancer or those with active bladder cancer should not take this medication, and they should inform their doctor immediately if they experience bladder-related symptoms such as urinary difficulties or hematuria. Patients with impaired liver function or severe kidney disease also need to be cautious when taking this medication and should have regular liver and kidney function tests. The risk of hypoglycemia may increase when this drug is used in combination with other diabetes medications, so patients should be aware of the symptoms of hypoglycemia and how to manage them. Premenopausal women may have an increased chance of pregnancy as this drug may stimulate ovulation, so appropriate contraceptive measures should be taken. Elderly patients, those in poor nutritional status, individuals engaging in vigorous exercise, and excessive alcohol consumers should be cautious due to the risk of hypoglycemia. While taking this medication, patients should have regular blood sugar and liver function tests, and report any abnormal symptoms to medical personnel immediately. In the case of overdose, there may not be any specific symptoms, but appropriate treatment based on clinical symptoms is required. Safety has not been established for children or pregnant or breastfeeding women, so its use is not recommended. This medication should be kept out of the reach of children and stored in its original container.
