This medication is used in patients with essential hypertension where blood pressure is not adequately controlled by monotherapy with either amlodipine or valsartan. It assists in effectively improving blood pressure when control is difficult with current treatments.

How to take

Adult dose

The recommended dosage of this medication is one tablet once a day, taken with water regardless of meals. It is recommended to take it at the same time every day (e.g., in the morning). It is advised to adjust the dosage with individual components (Amlodipine or Valsartan) and consider doses of 5/80 mg, 5/160 mg, or 10/160 mg if blood pressure is not controlled. For patients with renal impairment or liver impairment, adjustments may be needed.

Child dose

Safety and efficacy in pediatric patients under 18 years have not been established; therefore, administration of this medication is not recommended.

Precautions

This medicine can cause serious harm to the fetus and newborn if taken during the second and third trimesters of pregnancy; thus, it should be discontinued immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy. Patients with allergies to this medication, pregnant or breastfeeding women, patients with severe kidney or liver dysfunction, and those with a history of certain heart conditions or angioedema should not take this medication. Special caution is needed for patients with body sodium or fluid depletion, hyperkalemia, renal artery stenosis, recent kidney transplant, heart failure, or myocardial infarction; these patients require close observation by a physician while taking this medication. Various side effects such as headache, dizziness, edema, hypotension, cough, dyspepsia, skin rash might occur during treatment, so immediate consultation with healthcare providers is necessary if unusual symptoms appear. Caution is advised while driving or operating machinery as dizziness or fatigue may occur. This medication may interact with other antihypertensives, potassium supplements, diuretics, certain anti-inflammatory drugs, lithium preparations, etc., so if you are on any other medications, you must inform your doctor or pharmacist. Women who are pregnant or planning to become pregnant should not use this medication, and breastfeeding women are also advised to avoid it. This medication is not recommended for children under 18 years of age, as safety and efficacy have not been sufficiently established.

Hives, severe swelling (angioedema), vascular swelling, chest tightness, difficulty breathing, cold sweat, pallor, severe rash with fever, blisters, skin peeling, pain in oral/ocular mucosa, dyspnea or difficulty breathing, asthma attacks, cough with fever accompanying respiratory abnormalities, yellowing of the skin or eyes (jaundice), extreme malaise, sudden and severe headache, thunderclap headache, seizures, altered consciousness, visual disturbances.
