Precautions

This medication is used for the treatment of Type 2 Diabetes and helps improve insulin sensitivity to control blood sugar. However, it may affect heart function, so it should not be administered to patients with heart failure or a history of heart failure. During treatment, patients need to be closely monitored for symptoms of heart failure such as weight changes, dyspnea, and edema; if any of these symptoms occur, consultation with a physician should be sought immediately. Patients with active bladder cancer or a history of bladder cancer should not use this medication, and any occurrence of hematuria or urination difficulties during treatment should be reported to healthcare personnel immediately. Caution is also necessary for patients with impaired liver function or severe kidney disease. Furthermore, the risk of hypoglycemia may increase when this medication is used with insulin, so patients should be familiar with symptoms of hypoglycemia and may need adjustments in the dosage of concomitant medications. Women who are premenopausal may experience increased chances of ovulation due to this medication, so it is advisable to employ adequate contraceptive methods. Regular monitoring of blood sugar and liver function tests during treatment is essential, and patients should inform their physicians immediately if they experience sudden weight gain, edema, or shortness of breath. Elderly patients or those taking other oral hypoglycemic agents, as well as patients with heart conditions or renal dysfunction, should use this medication with particular caution. Lastly, it is safe not to administer this medication to pregnant women, women who may become pregnant, or breastfeeding mothers, and children under 18 years of age.
