Precautions

This medication is used to treat type 2 diabetes and helps reduce blood sugar with the assistance of insulin. During treatment, caution should be exercised regarding heart function. Particularly, patients with congestive heart failure or a history of heart failure may experience worsening symptoms if they take this medication, and its use is contraindicated. Symptoms of heart failure include sudden weight gain, shortness of breath, and edema, and if these symptoms occur, immediate consultation with a physician is necessary. Additionally, this medication can cause fluid retention leading to edema, which may increase the risk of heart failure; thus, if edema occurs or worsens, it should be reported to a doctor. This medication should not be given to patients with bladder cancer or a history of bladder cancer, and any symptoms such as hematuria or urination difficulties during treatment should be reported to a physician immediately. Patients with impaired liver function should use this medication cautiously, and the decision to use it should be based on liver function test results. Due to the risk of hypoglycemia, those using this medication alongside insulin or other hypoglycemic agents need to be aware of the symptoms and management of low blood sugar, and dose adjustments of other medications may be necessary if needed. This medication may facilitate ovulation in premenopausal women, thereby increasing the possibility of pregnancy; therefore, appropriate contraceptive measures are recommended. Elderly patients or those with decreased renal function should also be monitored carefully while taking this medication, with regular monitoring of blood sugar and liver function. In case of an overdose, no specific symptoms may be present, but appropriate treatment and observation should follow the physician's instructions. This medication is taken once a day, and it can be taken regardless of meals, but if a dose is missed, do not double the dose the next day. Finally, when storing this medication, keep it out of reach of children and store it in its original container to maintain the quality of the medication.
