Improvement of Type 2 Diabetes (Blood Sugar Control)
This medication is used as an adjunct to dietary control and exercise therapy to help control blood sugar in patients with Type 2 diabetes. It can be administered as monotherapy, and can be combined with sulfonylureas, metformin, or insulin when other oral hypoglycemics are ineffective. Furthermore, it is important to implement nutritional counseling, weight loss, and regular exercise to achieve blood sugar control. This comprehensive approach helps maintain the medication's effectiveness not only during initial treatment but also over time. Therefore, this medication is effectively used to improve blood sugar levels in patients with Type 2 diabetes.
This medication is taken orally once a day regardless of meals. 1. Monotherapy: Treatment may begin at 15 mg orally once daily, and if not effective enough, it may be increased up to 30 mg once daily. 2. Combination therapy: - If combined with a sulfonylurea, initiate with 15 mg once daily. - If combined with metformin, initiate with 15 mg once daily. - If combined with insulin, use 15 mg once daily.
