Precautions

This medication can cause serious harm to the fetus if taken during pregnancy, especially in the second and third trimesters; therefore, it should be discontinued immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy. Patients with a known allergy to this drug or its components, those with severely impaired kidney function, patients with specific electrolyte imbalances, or those with severe liver disease should not take this medication. Patients with very low blood pressure, those with issues in the renal vasculature, a history of liver disease, electrolyte disturbances, and elderly patients should use this medicine cautiously and should follow a physician's guidance. As this drug lowers blood pressure, dizziness or drowsiness may occur while taking it, hence caution is required when driving or operating machinery. Regular blood tests should be conducted to monitor kidney function and electrolyte status during treatment, and care should be taken to avoid excessively high or low potassium levels. This medication may interact with other drugs; hence patients taking potassium supplements, potassium-containing medications, diuretics, or antihypertensive agents should consult a doctor. The hydrochlorothiazide component can cause sensitivity to sunlight, increasing the risk of skin cancer; therefore, UV protection and monitoring of skin condition are important while taking this drug. Pregnant or nursing women should avoid using this drug, and those planning to become pregnant or who are pregnant must consult healthcare providers. This medication has insufficient experience in pediatric and adolescent use; hence it is considered safe to withhold from these populations. If any unusual symptoms or side effects occur during use, the patient should consult a doctor and follow their guidance.
