This medication assists in blood sugar control for type 2 diabetes patients by supplementing dietary and exercise therapies. It can be used alone or in combination with sulfonylureas, metformin, or insulin if there is no effect after using other oral hypoglycemic agents. Additionally, diabetes patients should receive nutritional counseling, weight loss, and regular exercise therapy, as these efforts are crucial not only for initial treatment but also for maintaining the efficacy of the medication. Precautions

This medication helps control blood sugar in type 2 diabetes patients. However, it should not be taken by patients with heart failure or those with a history of heart failure, as it may exacerbate the condition. Furthermore, this medication may cause fluid retention, leading to swelling or weight gain; if symptoms of swelling occur, consult a physician immediately. Patients with a history of heart disease, hypertension, or myocardial infarction should be particularly cautious, and if symptoms such as shortness of breath, swelling, or rapid weight gain appear during treatment, they should inform healthcare personnel immediately. This medication should not be administered to patients with bladder cancer or a history of bladder cancer, and immediate consultation with a physician is necessary if symptoms like urination difficulties or hematuria occur. It is also advised not to administer this medication to patients with severely impaired liver or kidney function, and if symptoms of liver dysfunction arise, testing should be conducted, and the medication should be discontinued if necessary. The risk of hypoglycemia may increase when used with other hypoglycemic agents; therefore, caution should be exercised regarding hypoglycemia symptoms, and adjustments to the dosages of other medications may be necessary. For premenopausal women, this medication may stimulate ovulation, thereby increasing the risk of pregnancy; appropriate contraception is recommended. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should avoid this medication, and those who are breastfeeding should consult with a physician. Elderly or malnourished patients may be at higher risk for hypoglycemia or side effects, so caution is needed. During treatment, regular monitoring of blood sugar and liver function is necessary, and any changes in physical condition should be reported to healthcare personnel promptly. This medication is taken once a day, and if a dose is missed, do not double the dose the next day. Finally, it is not used in children as safety and efficacy have not been established.
