Improvement of type 2 diabetes (blood sugar control)
This drug is used along with diet and exercise therapy to help control blood sugar levels in patients with type 2 diabetes. It can be administered as monotherapy, and if there is no blood sugar improvement despite the use of other oral hypoglycemic agents, it can be given in combination with sulfonylureas, metformin, or insulin. Additionally, nutritional counseling and weight loss may be necessary for patients with type 2 diabetes, and exercise therapy must also be implemented. Such therapeutic efforts are crucial not only for initial treatment but also for maintaining drug efficacy. Therefore, this drug is used to improve blood sugar control in patients with type 2 diabetes.
This medication is administered orally once a day, regardless of meals. Starting dosage can be 15 mg once daily for monotherapy; if the effect is insufficient, it can be increased up to 30 mg once daily. For combination therapy, 15 mg is given once daily along with sulfonylureas, metformin, or insulin, and the maximum recommended dosage should not exceed 30 mg once daily.
There is no experience in using this medication in children under 18 years of age, so its use is not recommended.
