These symptoms often arise from discomfort in the digestive process, and this medication contributes to the relief of symptoms by improving gastrointestinal function. Therefore, it is used for symptoms of functional dyspepsia, such as heartburn, nausea, and vomiting.
Adults: Administer 15 mg per day of mosapride citrate anhydrous orally in 3 divided doses before or after meals.
This medication may cause side effects in about 4% of patients taking it, primarily reports of diarrhea or loose stools, dry mouth, fatigue, etc. There may also be side effects related to liver function, which could result in elevated liver enzymes or, rarely, severe hepatitis or jaundice. Thus, liver condition should be closely monitored during use. If severe symptoms occur, discontinue use immediately and seek medical attention. Allergic reactions such as skin rashes or hives may occur, so caution should be exercised if such symptoms arise. Gastrointestinal side effects like abdominal bloating, nausea, vomiting, and taste disturbances have been reported, and sometimes symptoms such as palpitations, dizziness, and headaches may occur. If gastrointestinal symptoms do not improve after taking this medication for more than two weeks, long-term use may not be advisable. The effect of this medication may be reduced if taken with anticholinergic agents. Therefore, when using both, caution should be taken regarding the timing of doses. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should only use this medication if absolutely necessary, as its safety has not been established. Nursing mothers should avoid taking this medication or discontinue breastfeeding if possible. The safety of this medication in children has not been confirmed, so it is advisable not to use it in children. In elderly patients, renal or liver function may decline, so their condition should be monitored closely, and dosage should be reduced if necessary. The medication should be kept out of reach of children, and transferring it to another container could lead to accidental ingestion or degradation of quality, so precautions should be taken. Animal studies have reported a risk of tumor development with long-term high-dose administration, but the effects on humans are not clear.
Not everyone experiences these, and they can vary from person to person.
