Precautions

This medication may cause side effects such as diarrhea, loose stools, dry mouth, and fatigue in about 4% of users. Serious side effects such as liver dysfunction or hepatitis may rarely occur, so if there is a sudden rise in liver function tests or symptoms of jaundice appear, discontinue use immediately and consult a doctor. Additionally, various side effects including skin rash, hives, eosinophilia, leukopenia, dyspepsia, nausea, vomiting, dizziness, headache, and palpitations have been reported. If symptoms do not improve after taking this medication for more than 2 weeks, it is advisable to avoid prolonged use. When taken with anticholinergics, the effect of this medication may be reduced, so adjustments to the dosing interval may be necessary. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should take this medication cautiously after consulting a doctor, and breastfeeding mothers are advised to avoid taking it or to discontinue breastfeeding if necessary. The safety of this medication in children has not been adequately established, so its use is not recommended. Elderly patients should be closely monitored as kidney and liver function may decline, and dosage adjustments may be needed if required. This medication should be stored out of the reach of children, and transferring it to another container should be avoided as this may lead to a decrease in quality or risk of accidents. Animal studies have shown a tendency for increased tumor occurrence in the liver and thyroid with high doses and long-term administration.
