How to take

Adult dose

Adults: Administer 0.2 mg of tamsulosin hydrochloride orally once daily after a meal. This medicine should be swallowed whole and must not be crushed or chewed. Adjust the dose appropriately according to symptoms.

Precautions

This medication should not be used in certain patients. Those who are allergic to this medication or its components, those with orthostatic hypotension, those with severely impaired liver function, and women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should not take this medication. Patients with severely impaired kidney function, the elderly, and those taking PDE5 inhibitors, CYP3A4 inhibitors, or antihypertensives should take it with caution. In particular, patients who are currently taking alpha-1 blockers or have a history of urination syncope should generally not take this medication, and it should only be used cautiously if absolutely necessary. During use, there may be a risk of syncope or loss of consciousness due to a drop in blood pressure, so the patient's condition should be carefully monitored, and side effects such as dizziness, headache, drowsiness, hypotension, palpitations, arrhythmia, rash, itching, and indigestion may occur. If there are signs of liver dysfunction or jaundice, the medication should be stopped immediately and a doctor should be consulted. This medication can lower blood pressure, so caution is required to avoid overdose, and it's advisable to change positions slowly to prevent drops in blood pressure when standing up. Care should be taken when driving or performing hazardous tasks, as side effects like dizziness may lead to accidents. Since the symptoms of prostate cancer and benign prostatic hyperplasia are similar, it is essential to check for the presence of prostate cancer before taking this medication. In rare cases, priapism may occur, so if this symptom appears, a doctor should be notified immediately. Patients scheduled for cataract or glaucoma surgery should inform their physician about this medication, as specific complications may occur during the surgery. Patients with sulfa drug allergies should be cautious when taking this medication. When taking with other antihypertensives or PDE5 inhibitors, blood pressure may drop too low, so dosage adjustment may be necessary in consultation with a physician. Additionally, co-administration with certain antibiotics, antifungals, or antidepressants may increase drug concentrations, so it is essential to inform healthcare providers about all medications currently being taken. This medication is not intended for use by women and children. Elderly patients may have reduced kidney function, thus, starting with a lower dose and monitoring their condition is advisable. This medication should be taken directly from the packaging and should not be chewed or opened. In the case of orally disintegrating tablets, it should be dissolved on the tongue and swallowed with saliva, and it should not be taken while lying down without water. Store in a safe place out of reach of children, and it is advisable not to transfer it to another container.
