Relief of functional dyspepsia symptoms (including heartburn and nausea, etc.)
This medication is used to relieve gastrointestinal symptoms such as heartburn, nausea, and vomiting caused by functional dyspepsia.
Adults: The usual dose is 15 mg of anhydrous mosapride citrate per day, administered orally in 3 divided doses before or after meals.
This drug may cause adverse reactions in about 4% of patients, mainly diarrhea or loose stools, dry mouth, and fatigue. Serious adverse reactions related to liver function may occur rarely, and if symptoms of hepatitis or jaundice appear, administration should be stopped immediately, and a doctor's evaluation should be sought. Allergic reactions such as skin rash, hives, and swelling may occur, so caution is necessary in case of abnormal symptoms. Regular monitoring may be needed as blood tests may show eosinophilia, a decrease in white blood cells, and elevated liver enzyme levels. Gastrointestinal symptoms such as abdominal bloating, nausea, vomiting, and taste disturbances have been reported, so if these symptoms persist, consulting a physician is advised. Symptoms like palpitations, dizziness, and headaches may also occur rarely, so caution is necessary. It is recommended not to use this medication long-term if symptoms do not improve after taking it for more than 2 weeks. When taken with anticholinergics, the effectiveness of this medication may decrease, so the dosing intervals should be adjusted when co-administering. Pregnant women or those who might become pregnant should consult a doctor before taking this medication, and if breastfeeding, it is recommended to avoid taking this medication or discontinue breastfeeding. The safety of this medication has not been sufficiently established for children, hence use is not recommended. Elderly patients may have impaired renal and liver function, thus their condition should be closely monitored and dosing adjusted if adverse reactions occur. This drug should be stored out of the reach of children, and transferring to another container should be avoided to prevent deterioration of quality or accidents. Animal studies have reported an increased rate of tumor incidence with high-dose long-term administration, so long-term use should be according to a physician's instructions.
Not everyone experiences these, and they can vary from person to person.
This medication should be stored in a tightly sealed container to prevent air from entering, and at a temperature between 1 and 30 degrees Celsius (room temperature) to maintain its efficacy for a longer period.
