This medication is used for the treatment of androgenic alopecia, which can occur in both men and women, namely male pattern and female pattern hair loss. It is available in formulations of 2%, 3%, and 5% concentrations, which help inhibit hair loss and promote hair growth. With consistent use, it can improve hair loss symptoms and maintain hair health. Therefore, it is actively used for the treatment of androgenic alopecia.

Dosage and Administration

Adult dosage

(Gel) After completely drying hair and scalp, apply 0.5 to 1 g of this medication twice a day (morning and evening) to the affected area for at least 4 months. Total daily dose should not exceed 2 g. (Liquid) For 2%, 5% solution, after completely drying hair and scalp, apply 0.5 to 1 mL of this medication twice a day (morning and evening) to the affected area for at least 4 months. Total daily dose should not exceed 2 mL.

Precautions

This medication should not be used by certain individuals. For example, women using the 5% product, children under 18 years old, women who are pregnant or may become pregnant, and breastfeeding women should avoid use. Additionally, individuals with heart or vascular diseases, sudden patchy hair loss, scalp inflammation, infection, or wounds should not use this medication. It is also advisable not to use this medication if other scalp medications are in use or if the scalp has been shaved. During treatment, it should not be used concurrently with specific medications such as topical corticosteroids, retinoids, or petroleum jelly, and those taking vasodilators should be cautious of orthostatic hypotension. Elderly patients over 55, patients with edema, and those with thyroid function issues should consult with a doctor or pharmacist before using this medication. If symptoms such as itching, redness, inflammation, or worsening of hair loss occur, or if abnormal symptoms appear in the digestive, circulatory, respiratory, or nervous systems, use should be discontinued immediately and a professional consulted. Excessive absorption of this medication can affect the heart, so health status should be evaluated before use and consultation with a doctor or pharmacist is recommended. If a dose is missed, do not compensate and continue with the next scheduled dose; this medication may not be effective for hair loss caused by specific causes. In case of overdose, cardiovascular symptoms may appear, so consult medical personnel immediately, and this medication is for external use only and should not be applied to areas other than the scalp. Moreover, avoid contact with the eyes or broken skin, and wash hands thoroughly after use. Interactions

Drug interactions

This medication should not be used with other scalp medications, topical corticosteroids, retinoids, petroleum jelly, dithranol, or transdermal absorption enhancers. Consult with a doctor or pharmacist if used in conjunction with vasodilators (such as guanethidine).
