This medication helps reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases. In particular, adults with multiple risk factors or patients with type 2 diabetes can lower their risk of cardiac-related problems such as myocardial infarction, stroke, and angina pectoris. It is also effective in reducing the risk of vascular interventions and hospitalizations for congestive heart failure. For patients with hyperlipidemia, it is used as an adjunct therapy to dietary interventions aimed at improving hypercholesterolemia and dyslipidemia levels. It also helps improve hypercholesterolemia in young pediatric patients, thereby reducing the risk of heart disease. This medication is used for reducing the risk of cardiovascular disease and improving hyperlipidemia.
