This medication is used to clean and safely disinfect the surgeon's hands, arms, and the surgical site. It helps reduce the risk of infection during surgery and maintains patient safety. It is an essential antiseptic used in the surgical environment.

How to use

Adult use

For antiseptic disinfection of the surgeon's hands and arms: Take 5mL of this medication and thoroughly rub it on the hands and arms for about 5 minutes to create enough foam, then rinse thoroughly with running water. For antiseptic disinfection of the surgical site: Apply this medication directly or use an appropriate amount to rub it thoroughly to create enough foam, then wipe off with sterile gauze.

Precautions

This medication should not be used by patients who are allergic to this medication or its ingredients. It should be avoided in patients with thyroid dysfunction, particularly those with conditions such as nodular goiter or Hashimoto's thyroiditis. Patients with impaired kidney function or renal failure should also avoid using this medication. It should not be used in infants or newborns under 6 months of age, nor administered to patients with herpetic dermatitis. It is advisable not to use this medication before or after receiving radioactive iodine treatment. Patients with severe conditions, such as patients with extensive burns or elderly patients with a history of thyroid disease, and those with a history of renal failure should use it cautiously. Rarely, this medication may cause allergic reactions, such as breathing difficulties or skin rashes, and usage should be stopped immediately if such symptoms occur. Skin irritation, itching, redness, or rashes may occur, and prolonged use may delay wound healing, so be cautious. Using large amounts may result in serious side effects such as electrolyte imbalance, metabolic acidosis, or renal failure. Long-term use may result in changes to thyroid function, so it is recommended to undergo regular thyroid tests. Caution should be exercised as various side effects like burning sensations in the mouth and throat, skin reactions, and breathing difficulties may occur with excessive or prolonged exposure. If used shortly before delivery, the newborn's eyes and skin should be thoroughly washed, and as this medication is for conservative treatment, other treatment options should be considered if symptoms do not improve. Since this medication may affect thyroid function tests, the timing of these tests should be appropriately adjusted after using this medication. Patients on lithium therapy should avoid regular use of this medication, and caution is advised when used concurrently with certain drugs as it may decrease its antiseptic effectiveness. It is safest for pregnant or breastfeeding women not to use this medication extensively or for long periods, as it may affect the thyroid function of the fetus or newborn, and thyroid function testing in newborns is recommended. Care should be taken to avoid contact with the eyes, and if it enters the eyes, they should be rinsed immediately with clean water. Use it after cleaning the wound, and it should not be mixed with other medications. After use, any residue on clothing or skin should be washed off immediately. Pain, itching, irritation, rash, redness, dermatitis, burning sensation, skin ulcers, contact dermatitis, skin discoloration, delay in wound healing, electrolyte and serum osmotic imbalance, metabolic acidosis, hypothalamic-pituitary-thyroid axis dysfunction, elevated serum thyroid-stimulating hormone levels, decreased T4 and T3, metallic taste, increased salivation, burning sensation and pain in throat and mouth, eye irritation, stomach upset, diarrhea, iodine toxicity

Interactions

Drug interactions

Do not use this medication in conjunction with hydrogen peroxide. Consult a doctor or pharmacist if using it with lithium preparations, chlorhexidine, silver sulfadiazine compounds, alkaline substances, mercury-containing preparations, or enzyme-containing wound treatments.

Storage

This medication is sensitive to light and should be stored in an opaque, tightly sealed container. Additionally, it is important to store it at room temperature between 1 degree and 30 degrees Celsius to maintain its effectiveness.
