This medication is used for herpes simplex virus infections, particularly for the initial and recurrent genital herpes and oral herpes. It helps relieve blisters caused by the virus and associated symptoms, and aids in preventing recurrence. Patients can expect improvement in symptoms and a reduction in discomfort through treatment. Thus, it is effective for the treatment of herpes simplex-related viral infections.

Dosage and Administration

Adult dosage

This medication should be applied to the affected area (site of disease) about every 4 hours, 5 times a day. Treatment should continue for 5 days, and if there is no improvement after 5 days of use, it can be used for an additional 5 days.

Precautions

This medication should not be used by anyone who is allergic to its ingredients or has experienced an allergic reaction. Additionally, it is not safe for use by nursing women and children. Caution should be exercised when using this medication in patients with weakened immune systems, such as AIDS patients or bone marrow transplant patients. This medication contains the ingredient propylene glycol, which should be used carefully in individuals who are allergic or sensitive to it.
