Antiseptic effect for wounds (lacerations, burns) and infected skin areas
This medicine is used for antiseptic disinfection to prevent infection in lacerated wounds, burns, and injuries. It is also effective in preventing infection in areas of ulcers and abscesses. It is utilized for safe disinfection of infected skin areas and postoperative wounds. It helps to prevent infection at injection sites and catheter insertion sites, aiding patient recovery. Overall, it is used for disinfection in various wounds and areas at risk of infection.
Apply an appropriate amount to the affected area several times a day.
This medicine should not be used in certain patients. For instance, individuals allergic to this medicine or its ingredients, those with thyroid function issues, patients with compromised kidney function, infants and neonates under 6 months old, patients with herpetic dermatitis, and those receiving radioactive iodine treatment should not use this medicine. Additionally, patients who are severely ill or have a history of thyroid disease or kidney failure should exercise caution when using this medicine. Rare allergic reactions may occur when using this medicine, and if symptoms such as difficulty breathing or skin rashes appear, use should be discontinued immediately. Skin pain, itching, irritation, rashes, and redness may occur, and in severe cases, skin ulcers or contact dermatitis can develop. Prolonged use may delay wound healing. Using this medicine in excessive amounts may lead to electrolyte imbalance, metabolic acidosis, or kidney dysfunction, so caution is required. Prolonged use may alter thyroid hormone levels. Repetitive use of this medicine on extensive wounds or burns may result in significant absorption of iodine into the body, leading to a metallic taste, increased salivation, burning sensation in the throat and mouth, eye irritation, skin reactions, digestive problems, and difficulty breathing. If this medicine has been used just before delivery, it is advisable to thoroughly wash the newborn's eyes and skin after birth. This medicine is a conservative treatment method, and if symptoms do not improve, surgical intervention should be considered. In burn patients with extensive injuries, appropriate hydration, metabolic, and kidney function should be closely monitored, and use should be discontinued if abnormalities are noted. This medicine contains iodine and can affect thyroid function tests, so a sufficient time interval should be maintained between testing and administration. Patients receiving lithium treatment should avoid regular use of this medicine, and combined use with certain medications may reduce its effectiveness, so caution is needed. Pregnant or nursing women should avoid extended or broad usage, as it may impact fetal or neonatal thyroid function, and thyroid function tests for the newborn are recommended. Care should be taken to avoid contact with the eyes. If it comes into contact with the eyes, rinse immediately with clean water. It should not be mixed with other medications and should be used after disinfecting the affected area properly. This medicine should be stored away from direct sunlight, and if stored in metal containers, there may be a risk of corrosion, so caution is required. In case of overdose, gastrointestinal symptoms, neurological symptoms, and mucosal damage may occur, and appropriate detoxification and treatment should be administered as necessary.
Hives, difficulty breathing, cold sweat, paleness, chest tightness, severe swelling (edema), skin peeling, blisters, pain in oral/ocular mucosa, respiratory abnormalities with fever, difficulty breathing, asthma attacks, jaundice, extreme lethargy, severe swelling, significantly reduced urine output, severe skin reactions, sudden and severe headache, thunderclap headache, seizures, altered consciousness, visual disturbances, paralysis, edema accompanying elevated blood pressure, shock.
Pain, itching, irritation, rash, redness, dermatitis, burning sensation, skin ulcers, contact dermatitis, skin discoloration, delayed wound healing, metabolic acidosis, metallic taste, increased salivation, burning sensation and pain in the throat and mouth, eye irritation, skin reactions, stomach upset, diarrhea, elevated serum thyroid-stimulating hormone levels, decreased T₄ and T₃, increased serum iodinated protein levels, hyperactivity, tachycardia, headache, dizziness, confusion, and weakness.
Not everyone experiences these, and they can vary from person to person.
Do not use this medicine in conjunction with hydrogen peroxide. Consult a physician or pharmacist if using concurrently with lithium preparations, chlorhexidine, silver sulfadiazine, alkaline compounds, mercury-containing products, or enzymatic wound treatments.
This medicine is sensitive to light, so it should be stored in a light-resistant container. Additionally, it should be kept at room temperature between 1 to 30 degrees Celsius, and it is important to store it in a sealed container to prevent air ingress.
