Treatment of gastric ulcer and duodenal ulcer, relief of symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux disease and maintenance therapy, combination therapy with antibiotics for Helicobacter pylori infection-related gastrointestinal ulcers, treatment of Zollinger-Ellison syndrome.
This medication is used for the treatment of gastric ulcers and duodenal ulcers, and is also effective in relieving the symptoms of erosive or ulcerative gastroesophageal reflux disease. It aids in the long-term maintenance therapy of gastroesophageal reflux disease, and is used in combination with antibiotics for patients with gastrointestinal ulcers infected with Helicobacter pylori. It is also used to manage excessive gastric acid secretion in patients with Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. This medication is widely utilized for the relief and treatment of various gastrointestinal disorders.
For gastric ulcer and duodenal ulcer, adults should take 10 mg of Rabeprazole Sodium orally once a day. Depending on symptoms, 20 mg can be administered orally once daily. Treatment for gastric ulcers is typically up to 8 weeks, and for duodenal ulcers, up to 6 weeks. For erosive or ulcerative gastroesophageal reflux disease, take 10 mg or 20 mg once daily for 4-8 weeks. If symptoms do not resolve after 8 weeks, further treatment may be considered.
Safety in children has not been established.
This medication should not be used in patients with certain allergic reactions or hypersensitivity to specific antibiotics. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should not take this medication. Patients with poor liver function or elderly individuals should use this medication with caution. As this medication may cause allergic reactions such as skin rash or itching, it should be discontinued immediately upon the occurrence of symptoms. Regular blood tests or liver function tests should be conducted, and if abnormalities are detected, the medication should be discontinued. Adverse reactions may occur in various systems such as the heart, gastrointestinal tract, nervous system, respiratory system, and skin, so any unusual symptoms should be consulted with a healthcare professional. Long-term use of this medication may increase the risk of osteoporosis-related fractures, so caution is required. Additionally, prolonged use may lower serum magnesium levels, making regular blood tests advisable. This medication suppresses gastric acid secretion and may affect the absorption of certain drugs, so it is essential to inform healthcare providers of any other medications being taken. There may be drowsiness while driving or operating machinery, so caution is advised. In cases of overdose, there is no specific antidote, and appropriate treatment should be administered based on symptoms. This medication should be swallowed whole and not chewed or crushed, and it should be kept out of reach of children.
