Treatment of gastric and duodenal ulcers, relief of gastroesophageal reflux disease symptoms, maintenance therapy, and effectiveness of antibiotic combination therapy for Helicobacter pylori infection.
This medication treats ulcers in the stomach and duodenum and is also used to relieve the symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux disease and for long-term maintenance therapy. Additionally, it enhances treatment outcomes when combined with antibiotics in patients suffering from gastrointestinal ulcers infected with Helicobacter pylori. It also aids in the treatment of conditions characterized by excessive gastric acid secretion, such as Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. Overall, it is highly effective for treating various gastrointestinal disorders and relieving symptoms, thus improving digestive health.
Gastric ulcers, duodenal ulcers: The usual adult dose is 10 mg of rabeprazole sodium orally once daily. Depending on symptoms, 20 mg may be given once daily. The duration of treatment is up to 8 weeks for gastric ulcers and up to 6 weeks for duodenal ulcers. Erosive or ulcerative gastroesophageal reflux disease: 10 mg or 20 mg once daily for 4 to 8 weeks. If treatment is unsuccessful, an additional 8 weeks of 10 mg may be given.
