Precautions

This medication contains indomethacin, which has the effect of reducing inflammation and pain. It must not be used by individuals allergic to indomethacin or similar drugs. In particular, caution is warranted for those who have experienced asthma attacks from aspirin or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, as this medication can provoke severe asthma attacks. It is advisable not to use this medication in children under 14 years of age, as its safety has not been established. Patients with bronchial asthma should use this medication cautiously, as it may exacerbate asthma symptoms. Skin reactions such as itching, rashes, flushing, and contact dermatitis may occur upon using this medication; in some cases, the skin may become red and swollen. If severe symptoms occur, discontinue use immediately. Patients with psoriasis should be cautious as their symptoms may worsen. Rarely, serious hypersensitivity reactions such as skin allergies, bronchospasm, or a decline in blood pressure may occur. Additionally, aseptic meningitis, which presents with symptoms like headache, nausea, vomiting, fever, stiff neck, and altered consciousness, may occur; if any unusual symptoms are noted, consult a doctor immediately. It is important to remember that this medication does not completely cure inflammation or pain but helps alleviate symptoms. When applying to areas with skin infections, use appropriate antibacterial or antifungal agents to prevent worsening of the infection and observe the condition closely. For chronic conditions like long-term arthritis, other treatment methods should be considered alongside medication, and monitoring for side effects is necessary. Applying above the recommended dosage over large areas for an extended period can lead to systemic side effects; therefore, caution is advised. Do not use on post-surgical wound areas, as this can lead to hypersensitivity shock. Overdosing on this medication can interact with anticoagulant agents, hypoglycemic drugs, and thyroid hormones, so caution is necessary. In the last three months of pregnancy, use should be avoided, as it can delay delivery, cause bleeding, and pose risks to the fetus and newborn. Safety during the early to mid-stages of pregnancy is uncertain, despite animal testing showing no major abnormalities, so it should be used with caution. This medication can be passed through breast milk, so it is safer for breastfeeding women to avoid its use. Safety in children has not been established, so it is advisable not to use it in pediatric patients. Do not apply to areas with skin wounds, hemorrhagic skin conditions, eczema, infected areas, burns, or the eyes or mucous membranes. Applying to damaged skin may cause temporary irritation or a tingling sensation; caution is required. This medication is intended for topical use only and should not be used with occlusive dressings.
