Improvement of myocardial ischemia due to hypertension and coronary artery disease (stable and variant angina) and reduction in the risk of hospitalization and vascular surgeries due to angina.
This medication is used for the treatment of hypertension and myocardial ischemia caused by stable angina due to fixed coronary occlusion, as well as variant angina due to vascular spasms. Additionally, it helps reduce the risk of hospitalization for angina in patients who have confirmed coronary heart disease through recent angiography but do not have heart failure and have a cardiac output of over 40%. It also assists in reducing risks associated with coronary revascularization. Through these effects, it helps improve symptoms of heart disease and contributes to maintaining the patient's health more safely.
For amlodipine, the oral dosage is 5 mg once daily, and it can be increased to a maximum of 10 mg per day depending on the patient's response. Adjustments should be made according to age and symptoms.
The oral dosage of amlodipine for effective blood pressure lowering is 2.5 mg to 5 mg once daily. The dosage exceeding 5 mg per day in pediatric patients has not been studied.
This medication is a dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker that lowers blood pressure and reduces the burden on the heart. This medication can be used with other antihypertensives, diuretics, beta-blockers, etc., but it is advisable to avoid taking it with grapefruit juice as it may excessively enhance the blood pressure-lowering effect. Particularly, the risk of hypotension may increase when used in conjunction with certain antibiotics or other medications, so it is essential to consult a doctor or pharmacist about other medications being taken. Women who are pregnant or nursing are advised to avoid using this medication as its safety has not been established, and during nursing, it is recommended to discontinue breastfeeding while taking the medication. In children, it can only be used in those aged 6 years and older, and its safety and efficacy have not been established in children under 6 years.
