Adult dose
Losartan Potassium 50 mg/Hydrochlorothiazide 12.5 mg, one tablet once daily. Doses exceeding Losartan Potassium 100 mg/Hydrochlorothiazide 25 mg are not preferred. If blood pressure is not controlled, the dose may be increased to a maximum of Losartan Potassium 100 mg/Hydrochlorothiazide 25 mg, one tablet once daily after three weeks. For patients with renal impairment, when creatinine clearance is 30 mL/min or higher, the standard dose should be administered.
Child dose
There is no experience with the use in children and adolescents (under 18), therefore this medication should not be administered.

This medication is used for patients with hypertension who do not achieve adequate blood pressure control with monotherapy.

How to take

Adult dose

Losartan Potassium 50 mg/Hydrochlorothiazide 12.5 mg, one tablet once daily. Doses exceeding Losartan Potassium 100 mg/Hydrochlorothiazide 25 mg are not preferred. If blood pressure is not controlled, the dose may be increased to a maximum of Losartan Potassium 100 mg/Hydrochlorothiazide 25 mg, one tablet once daily after three weeks. For patients with renal impairment, when creatinine clearance is 30 mL/min or higher, the standard dose should be administered.

Child dose

There is no experience with the use in children and adolescents (under 18), therefore this medication should not be administered.

Precautions

This medication can cause serious harm to the fetus if taken during pregnancy, especially in the second and third trimesters, so it should be discontinued immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy. Patients with an allergy to any component of this medication, those with severely impaired kidney function, those with certain electrolyte imbalances, and those with severe liver disease should not take this medication. Patients with low blood pressure, issues with kidney or liver function, elderly patients, and those with a history of diabetes or gout should take this medication cautiously and may need to be monitored closely by a physician. This medication may affect serum potassium levels, so care should be taken not to use it with potassium supplements or medications containing potassium, and electrolyte status should be checked regularly through blood tests. Patients may experience dizziness or drowsiness while on this medication, so caution is needed when driving or operating machinery. This medication may cause skin sensitivity to sunlight, so prolonged exposure to sunlight should be avoided, and any skin abnormalities should be reported to a physician immediately. Sufficient fluid intake is necessary while taking this medication, and immediate medical consultation should be sought if there is a reduction in body fluid due to vomiting or diarrhea. This medication may interact with certain other medications, so if other medications are being taken, it is essential to inform a physician or pharmacist. The safety and efficacy of this medication in children and adolescents have not been established; therefore, its use is not recommended in this age group. If any unusual symptoms occur after taking this medication, consult a physician immediately, especially if symptoms such as angioedema, severe rash, or difficulty breathing arise, emergency treatment should be sought immediately. This medication should be stored in its original container and kept out of reach of children.
