This medication is used for patients with hypertension who do not achieve adequate blood pressure control with monotherapy.

How to take

Adult dose

The usual dosage for adults is 50 mg of losartan potassium and 12.5 mg of hydrochlorothiazide once daily. Dosages exceeding 100 mg of losartan potassium and 25 mg of hydrochlorothiazide per day are not preferred. - If blood pressure is not controlled with either losartan or hydrochlorothiazide monotherapy: Start with 50 mg of losartan potassium and 12.5 mg of hydrochlorothiazide once daily.

Child dose

There is no experience with the use of this drug in children and adolescents (under 18 years), so the losartan-hydrochlorothiazide combination should not be administered to them.

Precautions

This medication can cause serious harm to the fetus if taken during pregnancy, especially in the second and third trimesters, so it should be discontinued immediately if pregnancy is confirmed. Hives, angioedema (swelling of lips and eyelids and facial rash), skin peeling, hemolysis, angina, arrhythmias (atrial fibrillation, bradycardia, tachycardia, ventricular tachycardia, ventricular fibrillation), cerebrovascular accidents, hypotension, myocardial infarction, secondary atrioventricular block, aplastic anemia, agranulocytosis, leukopenia, hemolytic anemia, thrombocytopenia, purpura, necrotizing vasculitis, vasculitis and cutaneous vasculitis, fever, pneumonia and pulmonary edema, respiratory distress.
