Precautions

This drug can cause serious harm to the fetus during pregnancy; therefore, treatment should be immediately discontinued if pregnancy is confirmed. This drug should not be administered to patients with certain diseases or conditions, such as anuria, severe liver dysfunction, severe renal dysfunction, and a history of specific allergies. When administering this drug, caution is required for patients with various conditions such as hypotension, impaired renal function, electrolyte imbalance, liver dysfunction, hyperuricemia, diabetes, and cerebrovascular disease. Since this drug lowers blood pressure, dizziness or drowsiness may occur at the beginning of treatment or when increasing the dose; caution is advised when driving or operating machinery. Regular monitoring of renal function and electrolyte status through blood tests is necessary during treatment, with particular attention to changes in potassium levels. This drug can interact with other medications, so patients should consult their doctor before taking it with potassium supplements, potassium-sparing diuretics, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, lithium, etc. The hydrochlorothiazide component can make the skin sensitive to sunlight, increasing the risk of skin cancer with long-term use; hence, sun exposure should be minimized, and skin changes should be carefully observed. Potential adverse reactions during treatment may include dizziness, cough, abdominal pain, edema, skin rashes, etc., and if symptoms are severe, consultation with a physician is necessary. Safety and efficacy have not been established for children and adolescents, so use in this age group is not recommended. Elderly patients may experience adverse reactions more frequently, thus greater caution is warranted, and their physical condition should be closely monitored. Pregnant and breastfeeding women should avoid taking this drug, and if breastfeeding, it is advisable to either stop breastfeeding or discontinue medication. Overdose may result in symptoms such as hypotension and tachycardia, and immediate medical attention should be sought for appropriate management. This drug should be stored out of reach of children and sealed in its original container.
