Improvement of blood pressure control in cases of inadequate monotherapy for hypertension
This medication is used for patients with hypertension whose blood pressure control is insufficient with monotherapy. Hypertension refers to a condition where blood pressure remains consistently high, which can increase the risk of cardiovascular complications if not managed appropriately. Therefore, this medication helps to lower and manage blood pressure more effectively when used in combination with other treatments. It is used to improve blood pressure control according to the patient's condition.
The usual dose of this medication is 50 mg of losartan potassium and 12.5 mg of hydrochlorothiazide once daily, with a maximum dosage of 100 mg of losartan potassium and 25 mg of hydrochlorothiazide daily being undesirable. 1. Start with 50 mg of losartan potassium and 12.5 mg of hydrochlorothiazide once daily, and if blood pressure is not controlled after 3 weeks, the maximum dosage can be adjusted to 100 mg of losartan potassium.

During the course of treatment, blood pressure, renal function, and serum electrolyte levels should be regularly monitored to ensure there are no abnormalities. The hydrochlorothiazide component can cause electrolyte imbalances, elevated blood sugar levels, and hypersensitivity reactions, so it is important to monitor the patient's condition closely. When this medication is used in combination with other antihypertensive medications, potassium-sparing diuretics, or potassium supplements, potassium levels may become dangerously high, so consultation with a physician is necessary. There may be dizziness or drowsiness while driving or operating machinery, so caution is needed. If sudden skin rashes, difficulty breathing, or facial swelling occur during treatment, immediate notification of healthcare personnel is necessary. This medication is not to be used in children or adolescents, and elderly patients should take it according to healthcare instructions due to a higher likelihood of side effects. Women of childbearing potential should confirm their pregnancy status before taking this medication, and nursing mothers should either avoid taking it or stop breastfeeding.
