This medication is used as an additional treatment for patients with hypertension whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled by monotherapy.

How to take

Adult dose

The standard dosage of this medication is to take 1 tablet of losartan potassium 50 mg/hydrochlorothiazide 12.5 mg once daily. Dosages exceeding losartan potassium 100 mg/hydrochlorothiazide 25 mg per day are not preferable. If blood pressure is not controlled with monotherapy of losartan or hydrochlorothiazide, take one tablet of losartan potassium 50 mg/hydrochlorothiazide 12.5 mg once daily.

Child dose

There is no experience in using this drug in children and adolescents (under 18 years old), so the losartan-hydrochlorothiazide combination should not be administered.

Precautions

This medication can cause serious harm to the fetus when taken during pregnancy, especially in the second and third trimesters, so it should be discontinued immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy. Patients who are allergic to this drug or its components, those with severely impaired kidney function, those with severely impaired liver function, and women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should not take this medication. Patients with hypotension, kidney problems, liver disease, electrolyte imbalance, hyperuricemia, diabetes, cerebrovascular disease, and similar conditions should exercise special caution when taking this medication. This medication helps control blood pressure but may cause side effects such as dizziness, headache, cough, skin rash, and muscle pain. Caution is advised when driving or operating machinery due to possible dizziness or drowsiness. Women who are pregnant or planning to become pregnant should consult a doctor, and nursing mothers should also discuss the use of this medication with healthcare professionals.
