For rebamipide, 100 mg is administered orally three times a day. However, for gastric ulcers, it should be taken in the morning, evening, and before bedtime.

Precautions

This medication should not be used in patients who have had hypersensitivity reactions to its components. During the administration of this medication, severe allergic reactions such as shock or anaphylaxis may rarely occur; if symptoms appear, administration should be stopped immediately and appropriate treatment should be received. Blood counts should be periodically monitored as white blood cell or platelet counts may decrease, and administration should be ceased if abnormalities are found. Since liver function may be affected, liver function tests and jaundice symptoms should be monitored, and medication should be discontinued in case of abnormal signs. Skin hypersensitivity reactions such as urticaria, rash, and itching may occur, so if such symptoms appear, medication should be stopped. Symptoms related to the nervous system such as dizziness, drowsiness, and numbness may occur, necessitating caution when driving or operating machinery. Gastrointestinal symptoms such as dry mouth, constipation, abdominal pain, diarrhea, and nausea have also been reported; if symptoms are severe, consult a physician. If liver enzyme levels rise or if fever and rash appear together, usage should be stopped immediately and healthcare personnel should be consulted. Regular blood tests are recommended as changes in white blood cell counts or platelet reductions may occur. Various side effects such as breast pain, galactorrhea, palpitations, fever, facial flushing, tongue numbness, cough, dyspnea, hair loss, and menstrual irregularities may occur; report any bodily abnormalities to a specialist. For women who are pregnant or may become pregnant, administration of this medication should be carefully considered, and it is safer to avoid breastfeeding while on this medication. Safety for children, especially low birth weight infants, newborns, and young children, has not been sufficiently established, so caution is advised in their use. Elderly patients may be more sensitive to side effects such as gastrointestinal symptoms due to decreased physical function, so careful observation is necessary if symptoms occur. This medication should be stored in a safe place out of reach of children, and transferring to another container may lead to degradation of quality; therefore, it is recommended to store it in its original container.
