Relief of diabetic polyneuropathy
This medication helps alleviate the inflammation of various nerves caused by diabetes. It reduces symptoms such as nerve pain or tingling, improving the patient's quality of life. It is used to support the recovery of nerve function and reduce discomfort in daily life.
Adults: Take 600 milligrams of thioctic acid once daily with plenty of water, approximately 30 minutes before breakfast.
This medication should not be used in patients with allergies to α-lipoic acid or other excipients contained in this product. Moreover, there is insufficient clinical experience with this age group, so it should not be administered to children and adolescents. When taking this medication, gastrointestinal adverse reactions such as nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, and diarrhea may occur rarely. Allergic symptoms such as skin rash, hives, and itching may also arise, so caution is advised. There is also a possibility of hypoglycemic symptoms such as dizziness, sweating, headache, and vision disturbances due to a drop in blood sugar level, so proper management of blood sugar is essential. There have been rare reports of taste disturbances, please note. Frequent consumption of alcohol may exacerbate nerve damage and interfere with the efficacy of this medicine. Particularly, patients with diabetic neuropathy should avoid alcohol consumption, including during breaks from medication. This medication may decrease the effectiveness of the specific anticancer drug cisplatin, so it is advisable not to take it concurrently. Taking this medication simultaneously with metal-containing preparations such as iron and magnesium, or foods containing calcium such as milk, can impede absorption by forming lumps in the body, so dosing times should be separated. When taken with insulin or other diabetes medications, there may be an enhanced blood sugar-lowering effect, so blood sugar levels should be monitored frequently and medication dosages adjusted as necessary. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should use this medication cautiously according to the physician's judgment, as its safety is not clearly established. Overdose of this medication can lead to serious toxicity symptoms, so if suspected, professional treatment should be sought immediately. Toxicity symptoms include decreased consciousness, generalized seizures, hypoglycemia, and shock, which require prompt emergency treatment. This medication should not be stored at temperatures above 30 degrees Celsius, and it must be kept in a safe place out of the reach of children. Additionally, transferring the medication to another container can result in quality degradation or accidents, so it should be avoided.
Not everyone experiences these, and they can vary from person to person.
This medication may be sensitive to air or moisture, so it must be stored in a tightly closed container. It is best to maintain a storage temperature between 1 to 30 degrees Celsius. This will help to preserve the medication's effectiveness and ensure safe use.
