Treatment of male pattern hair loss
This medication is used for the treatment of male pattern hair loss in adult males, particularly those aged between 18 and 41 years. Male pattern hair loss, also known as androgenetic alopecia, occurs due to genetic factors and the influence of male hormones. This medication helps inhibit the progression of hair loss and promotes hair growth. When taken consistently, it has the effect of slowing down the rate of hair loss and improving the chances of hair regrowth. Therefore, this drug is effectively used to treat male pattern hair loss.
Generally, Finasteride is taken orally at a dose of 1 mg once daily, and it can be taken regardless of meals. Typically, one must take it for more than 3 months to see therapeutic effects, and it is recommended to continue taking it to maintain the therapeutic effect. Treatment duration and efficacy should be continuously evaluated. Discontinuation will result in loss of therapeutic effects within 12 months.
This medication should not be used by children or women. In particular, women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should not touch broken pieces of this medication as its ingredients can be harmful to a male fetus if absorbed through the skin. During the use of this medication, symptoms of depression or mood changes may appear, so if such symptoms occur, one should consult a healthcare professional immediately. Pregnant women or those who may become pregnant must not take this medication, and patients with known allergies to this drug or certain genetic lactose intolerance should not be administered this product. Patients with poor liver function or issues with fat metabolism need to be cautious when using this medication. This medication can affect sexual function, leading to erectile dysfunction, decreased libido, or ejaculation disorders, and if such symptoms occur, one should inform the healthcare professional. In most cases, these symptoms recover after discontinuation of the drug. If there are any changes such as tenderness, enlargement, lumps, or discharge in the breast, one should inform a doctor immediately. There have been no reported significant interactions with other drugs, but it is advisable to consult with a healthcare professional if one is taking other medications. During the use of this medication, prostate-specific antigen (PSA) levels may decrease, so caution is needed when interpreting test results. There is no specific antidote for overdose, and it should be kept out of reach of children.
